If the sound of Houston’s Ancient Cat Society was simply left at folk, then there would be little to discuss.  However, with elements of pop, Americana, and indie rock meshed with notes of doo-wop and occasional electronica; the group finds themselves with a sound that is more diverse than most bands performing today.  The saccharine sweet notes of Haley Barnes’ voice paired alongside the harmonized vocals of Austin Sepulvado and the storyteller accompaniment of Sergio Trevino creates a sound that’s all its own, yet familiar to the ears.  With a new album due out May 2017, Splice Records as their new home, and a new found affinity for their earnest sound, Ancient Cat Society is back and not a moment too soon, either.
